Florida's former Democratic "rising star", Andrew Gillum, is indicted

Former Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum addresses the audience during an event in 2019 in Miami Gardens. Gillum, a Democrat, was indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury alleging he sought campaign donations and funneled a portion of them back to him through third parties.

The federal indictment alleges that the former Tallahassee mayor conspired to commit wire fraud, by soliciting and obtaining funds using false and fraudulent promises between 2016 and 2019.
